Yes, I'm sick and twisted

And yes, I'm going straight to hell. But I couldn't help but laugh at this story:

JUNCTION CITY, Ore. - A woman lying along the railroad tracks in Junction City survived being struck by a train on Saturday.

Police say the unidentified woman suffered a deep laceration to the back of her head. (NO SHIT) She was in serious condition at a Springfield hospital.

The engineer of the Union Pacific freight train made an emergency stop but was unable to avoid hitting the woman, whose head appeared to be resting against the tracks. Police said she did not respond to the train horn, and alcohol appears to be a factor. (YA THINK?)

She was described as a white female between 40 and 45 years old, 130 to 140 pounds and 5 feet 5 inches tall. She has brown eyes, brown hair and a small tattoo of the words "far out" on her left hand.

I think those last few words pretty much sums it up.

How does a person like that even FIND the railroad tracks. And just cuz she reeked of alcohol, doesn't mean the poor dear was drunk. She just likes hard pillows.

Mom, Ha! Hard pillows with a REALLY FRICKING LOUD ALARM CLOCK.

I'm sorry, I know I shouldn't laugh. But really? How frickin' drunk do you have to be to think "Oh, I'm so tired....I think I'll just lay down and rest my head on this TRAIN TRACK for just a minute...zzzzz...." ????

Wow! You know I have enjoyed your blog for a long time, as a lurker. But, Wow! You lost me this time.

I live near Junction City. We did not find it so funny..:( Next time you might think about the fact that your blog is going all over the world...and right next door.

I understand its your blog and you are welcome to say whatever you want, but I found this very distasteful. I won't be visiting again.

Anonymous,
I am so sorry if I offended you; you are right that it was distasteful.

For what it is worth, my family has been touched by tragedy and I would never intentionally hurt anyone suffering from the loss of a friend or loved one. I shouldn't have lost sight of the fact that this woman was someone's daughter, sister, friend, neighbor. I apologize if I offended you.

Kate, You did not neccessarily Offend me, more surprised me. It just hit really close to home as I had just seen the story recently on the news and knew exactly where the incident had occurred.
I am sorry if I came off harshly, which I do believe I did.
However, I thank you very much for (A) your apology. It is easy sometimes to forget that the people we see on the news are real people. I do it myself, I'm sure...:\ Gawd knows I'm not perfect. I accept your apology.
And, (B) leaving my comment and your response on your blog. It says alot (good) about your True character. I admire you for this. I've never left a negative comment on a blog before. There is enough BS in the world, people need to hear more good, ya know? Once I'd written it, I did not plan on coming back. But this whole thing stayed on my mind all day and night and I had to come back. I fully expected to see my comment had been removed. But NO, you left it. Thank you for your fearlessness.
And, finally, I apologize also for being b*tchy. It was uncalled for.

Dear Anonymous,
No, you weren't bitchy; you were absolutely right to take that story seriously. I should remember that this woman is a human being who obviously needs our compassion.

As I mentioned briefly, our family suffered a tragedy that changed each of us in profound ways. We each developed different ways of coping witih our grief, which never goes away. Me, I chose to take life A LOT less seriously and to savor every moment and find humor wherever I can. That is my survival mechanism. But sometimes, obviously, I take it too far.

Thank you for coming back. I'm SO glad to know that you read my reply. You and your opinions are welcome here anytime! :)
