Yesterday I started putting together the top for my first-ever quilt. And for no apparent reason other than sheer laziness, I've decided to completely wing it: no pattern, no design plan, nothin'. I just started sewing some fabric together in a way that made me happy, and because I'm all about symmetry, I decided to go for a geometric design. Have I mentioned that I am completely incapable of cutting pieces of fabric the same size? This would cause most "normal" people to choose another hobby. But nobody ever said I was normal.Luckily it's for a baby and babies have notoriously low expectations.

As I keep asking, what do I have to do to get one? I'm already voting for Obama - what more could you want? My firstborn? Wait, trust me... you don't want him.

That's what quilting is all about, making your own designs, using your imagination which is much more difficult than following a pattern. And don't you feel a huge sense of accomplishment when you finish and you have this lovely quilt ? That's how all the patterns began. So you are a pattern designer ! Another career !
