yodelayheehoo!
So anyone who knows me knows that I sort of have this thing for Switzerland. When I was younger (until I was about 34, actually) I wanted to move to Switzerland a raise goats. I adore chocolate and cheese, The Sound of Music is one of my favorite movies, I named my cruiser Liesl and if I could have any talent I'd want to be a world-champion yodeller. Because, you know, you never know when that's going to come in handy. Anything Bavarian is my cup of tea. So now that we live in E. Washington, I knew that a trip to Leavenworth was ineveitable. I'd never been! This weekend we went, and Anna and I both totally fell in love with all its' kitchy goodness.
I want to live here.
Look where we stayed!
We took a sleigh-ride through the woods, where we saw a bunch of wild turkeys and a coyote stalking them.
We visited a hat shop. Nevermind psycotherapy; I need to start saving for braces. sweet jeebus.
And I bought some elves! Ack!! Can you stand it?? It took every ounce of restraint I had not to drop $200 on a cuckoo clock. I still sort of regret it.
But something tells me we'll be back.

How fun is that? Mom and I have talked about that would be a fun place to go for girls weekend. She's been there before and loved it. What do you think? Would there be fun stuff to do - like we really need any entertainment. We ARE our entertainment!
Gob! Are we old enough for girls weekend yet???? C'mon, we're 25 years old! Enough with the excuses already!
By the way Kate, BRACES was my first thought when I saw that picture! Too cute!
Yes! That's what I thought of too, that it would be a perfect place for our next girls' weekend. In fact, we need to set a date for that this year. It would be a 7 hour drive for you guys from Boise, but only 3.5 for me and 4 for Lala. Let's talk about it; I'm ready to go back right now!!
Jacki, I don't know if you girls can handle us. Do you think you're up for it??
I think it would be fun to have the bigger girls there (in fact, let's say you have to be 25 before you're allowed for girls weekend - that's a good age) but they have to leave the kids at home. No kids ever allowed.
Find us a good place to stay Kate and let's try to plan for around mom's birthday again. That seems to be a good time of year - if it's good with Linda.
now mother... why the hell would I bring my kids?!
Wow, it would be fabulous to go to Leavenworth ! I thought it would be too kitchy for you Kate, but even the Forest Service office is Bavarian style ! I can just hear some big wig in D C saying, you want to build it HOW ?
If the big girls can do it, great.
Mom, there's no such thing as "too kitchy" if it's Bavarian! :) I can eat it up with a spoon!
Jacki, you're not the ONLY one with kids!
I LOVE Leavenworth! My kids would love it there, too, but they've never been. One of these days...
Sorry just stumbled on your blog, had to Post! You are to funny! Lots of cuckoo clocks on Ebay for less than $200. Just so you know...I need some company in my sickness. I need to go to Leavenworth. I wonder how long it would take to get there from Myrtle Beach?
Listen Mandi, that's enough out of you! I don't need any encouragement to spend more money! ;) I, um, already got on ebay to look for more elves...
Thanks for stoppin' by!
AHA! So you're collecting elves now! Oh you NEVER should have said so...
Sure, ya'll can buy me all the HIGH QUALITY HAND-MADE GERMAN elves you can get yer hands on. but if ANYONE dares buy me an elf made out of sea-shells, well, I'll have to hurt you. And you KNOW I can. (here we go again. you're right; we do need therapy.)
Are you telling me those pictures were taken in the state of Washington?
Switzerland = awesome hot chocolate and to die for fondue
MP,
YES, it's Leavenworth Washington! It's in the middle of the state, about 2.5 hours from Seattle, 3.5 from the east side of WA. It looks exactly like Switzerland, doesn't it?? Hence, my LOVE.
Did you know that little German towns - even fake ones - make Jewish people itch?
Friday ! DAMN, ITS SNOWING AGAIN. It was supposed to rain. Stupid weatherpersons ==== wrong again.
David, think Swiss ( forget German) and stop scratching !
(the Swiss were neutral )
